What is the Undercurrent?

The Undercurrent is a gathering place for behavior scientists who are curious, capable, and completely over the narrow version of ABA we were sold.

It’s not a catch-all community—and that’s intentional. This space is focused on two areas where our science is desperately needed and criminally under-discussed: clinical and forensic behavior analysis.

If you’ve ever felt like your interests didn’t fit the mold, like the work you want to do is too complex, too niche, or too far from the norm—you’re not alone. You just haven’t been in the right room yet.

This is that room.

What’s included?

Your subscription to The Undercurrent comes packed with resources and opportunities to grow, connect, and thrive as a behavior scientist. Here’s what you’ll gain access to each month:

  • Monthly CEU
Live via Zoom, these sessions dig into specialized topics across the forensic and clinical ABA umbrella. We cover the real stuff—applied, nuanced, and deeply needed in the field. Come live or catch the replay when it works for you.

  • Article Review
Each month, we dive into an open-access article you might have missed. We focus on interpreting the research, pulling out clinical relevance, and talking through how to apply it in real-world work. It’s not just about reading—it’s about using the literature well. This is only available live.

  • Monthly Roundtable
This is where we think together—about cases, careers, and the future of the field.

Each month, members come together to talk through real challenges in clinical and forensic ABA. That might mean troubleshooting a complex case, figuring out how to become marketable in a new setting, or walking step-by-step through what makes a job application stand out.

We also use this time to ask bigger questions:
What needs to change in our field?
    Where are the gaps?
And how do we work together to build what doesn’t exist yet?

You bring the questions. We bring the collective brainpower.

  • Swellies Slack Community
This isn’t just another group you’ll forget to check.

When you join The Undercurrent, you become a Swelly—our nickname for members who are riding the waves of change in behavior analysis. It’s a little nerdy, a little fun, and fully about belonging to something deeper.

Inside our private Slack space, you’ll find organized channels based on your interests—clinical, forensic, substance use, supervision, and more—so you can follow the conversations that actually matter to you.

I also use Slack to share job leads, relevant research, news updates, and bonus content. But this space isn’t meant to be passive. Swellies show up. We ask questions, share insights, and keep the current moving together.

This is where ideas grow and opportunities start.

Who is the undercurrent for?

The Undercurrent is for behavior scientists who know ABA can do more—and want to be part of making that happen.

This space is especially for you if:

  • You’re exploring clinical or forensic ABA and not sure where to start

  • You feel isolated doing work outside the autism therapy model

  • You’re ready to build a career that actually fits your values

  • You want to connect with people who think deeply and act with purpose

  • You’re a student or supervisee who never saw yourself in the standard BCBA pipeline

  • You’re done waiting for opportunities—you’re ready to create them

This isn’t for spectators.
It’s for thinkers, builders, disruptors, and doers.
